Best Minneapolis Happy Hours

No matter where you live in Minneapolis, from Uptown to Downtown to Northeast to South there are some great happy hours near you. There’s no excuse to not get your drink on when some bars and restaurants have such great food and drink specials that you’d be stupid not to take advantage of them. Here’s a list of some of my favorite Minneapolis happy hours.

The Independent

Year after year The Independent snags awards for its amazing happy hour in the local press. Every single day, including the weekend, from 3pm to 7pm, The Independent serves 2-4-1 cocktails and select taps for $3, specialty (strong!) martinis for $5 and huge appetizer portions for $5 including my personal favorite, zucchini French fries. Late nights start the happy hour up again with various nights serving $2 domestic bottles which is a great deal, especially in such a great décor and environment such as The Independent. When I lived in Uptown this was the standby place to go where I knew I could get great food and a good deal.

The Imperial Room

With a great location in the middle of downtown right near the light rail station, The Imperial Room can be a great, even dangerous place to start your night off right with a great happy hour. Weekdays from 4pm to 7pm they offer $4 for giant 20oz taps and half off their huge appetizers. They have great beers on tap and the happy hour includes some of the higher end beers as well. Friday and Saturday night happy hour deals are great as well with $3 domestic taps and rails and $5 for strong vodka Red Bulls. They have great DJs on the weekend spinning tunes and it can get surprisingly packed in there despite its small size. They recently accommodated their success by opening up the top floor of the bar on the weekends and on busy nights.

Mac’s Industrial Sports Bar

With a weird name like Mac’s Industrial Sports Bar it is hard to expect much more than cheap beer and bar food and that is pretty much what you get at this bar. It is a large, open-floor plan bar with a bit of a older, blue-collar Northeast, downtown and University crowd who are pretty laid back and chill. You’ll find all sorts of people hwere from guys with cool Audi parts and tricked out rides to trucker guys just watching the game with a beer. With a surprisingly good beer selection and a happy hour that starts at 11am, you can’t go wrong. They have 27 beers on tap and they are most of them are no more than $4 during their happy hour. Check out this somewhat hidden gem for great deals.
