If you enjoy smoking cigars you will need to invest in more than just your favorite stogies. Cigar smoking accessories are a must if you want to enjoy the flavor of your favorite brand. When you first start smoking cigars you may not know which cutters, lighters, and humidors to invest in. As you gain experience, you will be the first person your friends come running to when they need advice on which accessories are best. Compare each type of cutter, torch lighter, and humidor, and understand how investing in the wrong accessory can affect your smoking experience.
Cigar Cutters
Some cigar smokers will say you can successfully cut a cigar with your teeth. This very primitive way of cutting your cigar will affect the way to the smoke travels through the cigar, ultimately affecting your smoking experience. When you are comparing various cigar cutters you will need to consider the type of cigars you prefer to smoke. Guillotine cutters are suited best for cigars that measure 54 or less. V cutters are best suited for small ring cigars. When you compare V cutters and guillotine cutters you are going to need to consider which makes the cleanest cut. Most cigar aficionados prefer guillotine cutters because they are easy to use and do not make a mess.
Lighters
The lighter you use can make all the difference. When you invest in a cigar lighter you cannot simply pick up the most affordable Bic at your local liquor store. If you want an even light that hits perfectly every time you will need to invest in a torch lighter. Torch lighters use either butane or propane as fuel. Butane and propane are both odorless gases that will not affect the taste of the cigar. When you are deciding which fuel is best you will need to consider how often you plan to use the lighter and how much the fuel costs. Propane is much more affordable, however, butane is much easier to refuel.
Humidors
The last place you want to store your expensive cigars is in the refrigerator. When you store your cigars in the refrigerator they will go stale quickly. A cigar humidor is designed to keep cigars between 65 and 75 percent humidity. When cigars stay in this range they will stay fresh for a longer period of time. You will need to consider the size of your cigars and how many you need to store to choose the best box.
If you do not invest in the right cutter, torch lighter, and humidor, you are wasting your money buying expensive cigars. Compare the cost of accessories online and save money. With online cigar shops you can purchase the best accessories from the comforts of your own home.
